E. Blake Zakarin, PhD
Dr. Zakarin is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), sleep problems, stress and related concerns in children, adolescents, and adults. For over a decade, Dr. Zakarin has focused on the application of evidence-based treatment in renowned academic medical centers, collaborating with leaders in the field. Most recently, she served as Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Division of Psychiatry, and as Clinical Director of the Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD), at Columbia University Medical Center/NY Presbyterian.
Born and raised in NYC, Dr. Zakarin received her B.A. in Psychology with honors from the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to Washington D.C., where she completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Catholic University and a pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in clinical and pediatric psychology at Children's National Medical Center.
Dr. Zakarin specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and regularly integrates other evidence-based techniques into her practice. Her approach to treatment is collaborative, action-oriented, and focused on helping patients reduce the impact of stress and anxiety on their lives and engage in the activities and relationships that they value.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Zakarin often presents information about anxiety, sleep and mental health to the public and scientific community. She has been interviewed as an expert in the field, presented at national professional conferences, provided clinical supervision and training to psychiatry students, fellows and faculty, and continues to provide workshops for mental health professionals, schools and parents.
